MUMBAI: Adlabs Cinemas will soon begin screening Oscar nominated films of this year as well as the winners of previous years, in its chain of theatres in Mumbai, Pune and Mangalore. 
 
The screenings will be held between 23 February and 1 March 2007. The films to be screened include The Departed, Babel, Blood Diamond, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Poseidon, The Prestige and United 93.
 
The initiative is targeted at discerning film viewers and will be supported by various Oscar themed activities, says a company release. An Oscar themed contest will also run in the cinemas and an Oscar message board will be put up, where visitors can post their comments on the nominations and the award proceedings.
 
The decor inside the theatres will be Oscar themed and quizzes testing visitors’ knowledge of Oscar trivia will also be held, adds the release.

“The Academy Awards are as big as you can get in Hollywood. It is but natural to celebrate the biggest ticket event at our cinemas to give film afficionados a chance to revisit the best of the year on the big screen,” said Adlabs Cinemas COO Tushar Dhingra.
