MUMBAI: Adlabs has been in the news lately for many a reasons. The latest biggie being the Rs 350 million (Rs 35 crore) deal that it has signed with Hrithik Roshan. What’s more, come 2007 and Adlabs will be rolling out as many as 30 films out of which 10 are scheduled to release in 2007, as per information available with Businessofcinema.com.
Most of these films are in its pre-production stage, which is one of the reasons why Adlabs chairman Manmohan Shetty is reluctant to divulge any information.
Of the 10 films, the first one will be Nishabd directed by Ram Gopal Verma starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jiah Khan, Aftabh Shivdasani and Revathy, which will tentatively release by end of December next year.
This will be followed by Salman Khan’s international film Marigold in February. It is directed by Willard Carroll and also stars in it Nandana Sen, Ali Larter and Ian Bohen.
Shooting of N. Chandra’s Breaking News has already begun and Chandra is hopeful for the shooting to wind up soon. The film stars Anupam Kher, Perizaad Zorabian, Rajpal Yadav, Atul Kulkarni, Sanjay Suri, Vijay Raaz, Saurab Shukla and Seema Biswas.
Vipul Shah’s Namstey London starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Rishi Kapoor and Upen Patel is slated to release in the summer.
Ram Gopal Verma Ke Sholay starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Mohit Alawat was earlier scheduled to release in June next year. However, G P Sippy’s grandson Sascha Sippy has sought an injunction from the High Court against the film since the Sippys hold the copyright of the original Sholay.
Rooh directed by Vikram Bhatt starring Alisha from the south, Amit Gaur and Swapnil Ralkar is also slated to release in 2007.
After Apahran, Prakash Jha, Ajay Devgan and Nana Patekar will be yet again working together in Adlabs’ Rajneeti, which is also scheduled for a 2007 release.
Ajay Devgan has yet another film with Adlabs – Anubhav Sinha’s Cash which also stars Zayed Khan, Esha Deol, Ritesh Deshmukh, Suniel Shetty and Shamita Shetty.
Harry Baweja’s Love Story 2050 starring Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja is slated to release around October/ November.
Sarkar 2 directed by Ram Gopal Varma starring Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwaria Rai is also slated to release in 2007.
The tenth film is Khoya Khoya Chaand directed by Sudhir Mishra. Mishra is currently working on Bahut Nikle Mere Armaan, which is produced by Prakash Jha.
Apart from these there are other projects too, three of which will be with Hrithik Roshan. Another film that the company is working on is an animation film with apparel major Gini & Jony. With all these movies in the pipeline, Adlabs sure seems to be going great guns.
