Adlabs to pump Rs 200 million in digital lab

MUMBAI: After its fall out with Prime Focus for post production facilities, Adlabs, which is the market leader in film processing lab business, is now readying to set up a digital post production lab.

While Prime Focus works on commercials as well as motion picture, Adlabs’ new division will concentrate on films. The new division is being set up in Film City, Goregaon.

Confirming the development to Businessofcinema.com, Adlabs Films CFO V Devarajan says, “We are looking at this new venture. But it is still in its initial stages.”

Talking about the investments being pumped in for the same, Devarajan says, “We will be investing a reasonable amount in this venture, which will be in the region of about Rs 15 – 20 crores (Rs 150 – 200 million).”

This new unit will be launched in January next year. Adlabs Films corporate head, strategic planning Kapil Bagla adds, “This project is under construction right now. Our aim is to be one of the best digital production houses in the country. Though there is heavy competition in this area with many players battling it out, our aim is to be the largest lab.”

Last year Adlabs launched a full fledged film processing unit and post production facility in Kolkatta.
