Adnan Sami embarks on acting career; shooting begins July

MUMBAI: Even as musician Adnan Sami prepares to turn actor this July with a romantic thriller about a guy looking for a suitable match, he has made it clear to his producers that he won’t make the mistake that Himesh Reshammiya did.

Sami is not looking at singing, composing and acting at the same time, as Reshammiya rather suicidally did. On the contrary, Sami prefers to keep his music and acting completely separate.

Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Sami says, “Ideally I’d like to compose music and pursue my acting career separately. For my movie debut, I’d like them to get someone else to compose the music. Let me make it very clear that I am not offering myself a three-in-one actor-singer-composer package deal.”

Sami’s acting debut, to be produced by Irfan Siddiqui and directed by Rajeev Shrivastava, is a musical thriller about a guy’s search for a suitable bride. The movie will be shot in New Zealand from July.

And no, Sami will not be playing a  musician in his debut film.

Sami says, “One thing that I was sure about is that I didn’t want to play a singer or a musician. The whole point of acting is to assume roles and do things that one doesn’t do in real life.”
