Anil Kapoor’s ShortKut court case settled; movie to release

MUMBAI: The Delhi High Court, today (9 July), gave the green signal to Anil Kapoor produced film Shortkut – The Con Is On.

The case was settled after Kapoor agreed to pay a sum of Rs 35 lakhs to independent producer B S Bhullar who claimed to have copyright over the title of the movie. The actor’s production house Anil Kapoor Film Company agreed before Justice Reva Chetrapal to pay the amount to Bhullar.

Bhullar said that while the movie was titled Shortkut – The Con Is On, the tag line printed in red was not legible in the publicity campaign.

Producer Bhullar claimed that Kapoor had copied the title of his film. On 7 July, the High Court had issued a notice to the film company and had asked for a reply on the same.

The movie stars Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao and will be released tomorrow (10 July) by Studio 18. The hearing was attended by a Studio 18 representative as Anil Kapoor is currently in the US.
