Balaji Motion Pictures’ Shorr wins Best Director award at IAAC in NY

MUMBAI: Balaji Motion Pictures and Alt Entertainment’s Shorr was awarded the Best Director Award at the recently concluded Tenth Annual Indo-American Arts Council (IAAC) Film Festival in New York. The announcement was made on the closing night of the festival on 14 November, 2010.

Shorr was the opening night film last week at the South Asian festival in the U.S. The premiere was attended by Ekta Kapoor, director-duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, actors Tusshar Kapoor, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Balaji Motion Pictures CEO Tanuj Garg. Also in attendance were stalwarts Mira Nair, Nandana Sen, Padma Lakshmi, Sarita Choudhury, Deepti Naval, Tannishtha Chatterjee, and Rahul Bose, among others.

“The award is testimony of our belief in Shorr. I am delighted that with Love, Sex Aur Dhokha and Shorr, Alt Entertainment is swiftly establishing itself as a robust brand, which backs high quality commercial content with alternate sensibilities,” said Ekta Kapoor.

The feature film, based on Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK’s winner of MIAAC 2008’s Best Short Film Award, is a portrait of Mumbai, revolving around the lives of three individuals and their dilemmas.

Shorr is expected to release in March-April 2011.
