Balaji Q1 net profit up 6% to Rs 184 million

MUMBAI: Balaji Telefilms has posted a net profit of Rs 184.40 million for the first quarter of the fiscal ended 30 June 2007, up 6.12 per cent from Rs 173.77 million a year ago.


 




The company’s total income was marginally up by 1.70 per cent from Rs 756.860 million for the quarter ended 30 June, 2006 to Rs 769.687 million for the quarter ended 30 June, 2007.



 


Net sales for rose 1.35 per cent to Rs 745.32 million from Rs 735.39 million during the corresponding quarter, a year ago. The operating profit stood at Rs 295.02 million, up 13.31 per cent from the year-ago period.




 


While commissioned programming accounted for Rs 685.22 million; Rs 59.85 million was earned from sponsored programming. Balaji Telefilms invested Rs 286.39 million in production and post-production equipments and studios. As of 30 June 2007, Balaji’s investments were at Rs 1.83 billion.



 


The company’s shares closed down Rs 6.35 (2.51 per cent) at Rs 246.30 today (Thursday, 26 July).
