Indiaplaza breaks record for Potter book

MUMBAI: Indiaplaza.in has recorded maximum number of sales on JK Rowling’s seventh and final book in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, on the day one. Registering 15,000 copies sales, of which 11,000 were shipped on 21 July, Indiaplaza.in has become the largest single retailer overtaking all the other offline and online book stores in India.

“Indiaplaza.in has outsold every other book retailer in India – offline and online – to emerge as the single largest retailer for the much anticipated Harry Potter book. It is a small step for Indiaplaza but a giant step for the internet in India as e-commerce gets set to take deep roots as a popular retail option, said Indiaplaza.in COO K Vaitheeswaran.

Penguin Books India CEO and president Thomas Abraham adds, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows broke all existing records and added a new one. For the first time, internet based sales have emerged as a really significant player. Our congratulations to Indiaplaza for having logged sales of 11,000 copies which is the largest ever-online sales ever logged for a single book in a day and we see this as a most promising sign of things to come.”
