Mumbai :Producer-distributor Bharat Shah is taking giant strides. After have released his Salman Khan – Shilpa Shetty starrer Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar, he is now making a Hollywood film on a gay theme.
Bharat Shah says, “It’s my first Hollywood venture. The movie is titled Ode and will have homosexuality as its theme. It will not be released in India, as homosexuality is still being considered a taboo here. But it will have Indian actors.”
He further adds, “The film will be produced by Mumbai-based G.K. Desai, who has set up an office in Los Angeles for the purpose. It will be directed by Los Angeles – based Nilanjan Neil Lahiri. The subject is based on Kenyan writer Ghalib Shiraz Dhalla’s novel Ode to Lata. The shooting will commence later this year in Los Angeles and Mombasa in Kenya.”
The budget of the film is said to be around Rs 50 crore… as much as he spent on Devdas.
