Mumbai :Bhushan Kumar of Super Cassettes has bought the Hindi remaking rights of Rajnikanth starrer, the Tamil super-hit Chandramukhi for a huge price. Bhushan says, “We have finalised the Hindi remake rights. But I cannot disclose the price or the arrangement. Chandramukhi turned out to be the biggest Tamil film in terms of box-office collections. In fact it has swept a tsunami wave at the turnstiles.”
It is reported that the film hand was sold in Tamil Nadu for Rs. 25 million (Rs. 2.5 crore). The film has crossed Rs. 600 million (Rs. 60 crore). There is a repeat audience for this film. Comparatively, a Rajnikanth starer has the potential to garner around Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 million (Rs. 20 to 25 crore) from domestic and overseas theatrical, satellite, audio and other rights, if the film is a super-hit.
The shooting of Hindi re-make of Chandramukhi will commence from February. The role of Rajnikanth will be played by Akshay Kumar. Vidya Balan will play the title role. Priyadarshan will direct the film made on a huge budget.
