Mumbai: In keeping with selling all rights of Singh Is Kinng at record high prices, Studio 18 has sold the home video rights of the film to Big Home Entertainment for a whopping Rs 50 million (Rs 5 crores).
BIG Music and Home Entertainment CEO Kulmeet Makkar says, "BIG has acquired the home video rights of Singh Is Kinng and we will be releasing the DVDs and VCDs in the market by mid October." Makkar refused to confirm the monetary aspect of the deal.
Throwing some light on the marketing and distribution Makkar says, "The launch will be supported by unconventional mass distribution and aggressive marketing. We will market the home video release just as theatrical release across various mediums of TV, radio, newspaper, internet, bus panels, on-ground activities etc. On the distribution front, from October onwards we plan to widen our reach to various departmental and family stores."
BIG had also acquired the home video rights of Welcome from Studio 18 in the past. BIG’s Singh is Kinng home video launch will be followed up by Rock On in October end.
