Big B wins National Award for Black

Mumbai: Amitabh Bachchan has won the National Award for best actor in Black.

While Rani Mukerji lost out for her performance in Black, Sarika, ex-wife of Kamal Haasan has won the best actress award for Parzania – a film based on Gujarat riots. It is Rahul Dholakia’s second directorial venture. He won the best director award for the film too. Konkana Sen Sharma, another contender for the best actress for her performance in 15 Park Avenue too missed the bus.

Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s Kaalpurush won the best film award. Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the best Hindi film. Aparna Sen’s 15 Park Avenue won the best English film award. Anupam Kher won the special jury award for his role in Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara while Naseeruddin Shah won the best supporting actor for his role in Iqbal.

Butthese awards haven’t been officially announced and will be announced only when the I & B Ministry decides to do so following a high court order. A group of filmmakers have filed a petition in the Bombay High Court stating that uncensored films should also be considered eligible for the awards.
