BIG CBS Spark pays tribute to Whitney Houston

MUMBAI: Whitney Houston, the Golden girl of the music industry bid good-bye to the world on 11th February, 2012. From 1980s to late 1990s, she wowed the audience with every single of her performances. BIG CBS Spark pays a tribute to the Queen of Pop as it brings together every single event that built Whitney Houston’s life. The two hour special on Sunday, 19th February, will take Whitney Houston fans in flashback.

Whitney started her career in mid 1980s and since then, there was no stopping for her. With two Emmy Awards, six Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, among a total of 415 career awards as of 2010, Houston was the most awarded female artist of all time, according to Guinness World Records.

Citing the success of her singing career, Whitney signed her first film The Bodyguard, which was released in 1992. Thereafter, Whitney’s acting career too began to takeoff. Waiting to Exhale, The Preacher’s Wife, Cinderella and now in its post production – Sparkle.

While at the peak of her career, Whitney’s personal life was painted in black. Her marriage with Bobby Brown saw some serious troubles. In a 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Houston said she went from being a “light” drug user to a “heavy” one over the course of her 15-year marriage to Brown, 43. In 2003, police responded to a domestic-violence 911 call to their Georgia home and discovered Houston with a bruised cheek and a cut lip. Brown subsequently turned himself in and was charged with misbehaving with the superstar and reportedly threatening to beat her up.

Whitney Houston’s invitation only funeral took place today, 18th February, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church in New Jersey. The late singer and actress will be buried next to her father, John Russell Houston, who passed away in 2003.
