Nair’s The Namesake is the tale of Indian immigrants in America who are torn between tradition and modernity. The film is based on Jhumpa Lahiri’s prize winning novel with the same title. The film is meant for niche audiences and expected to do better in multiplexes in cities.
I’m In Love is all about organ donation. The newcomers have put in amateurish performances; while director B.M. Mirza’s direction is routine.
Yaara revolves around the film industry with sacrifices and ordeals. It has nothing to offer at the box-office.
Bhojpuri film Hamra Se Biyaah Karba is a triangular love story. Ravi Kissen plays a doctor and is loved by Pratibha Pandey, a mental patient under his treatment. There is another girl Nilofer also in love with him. The film has opened to good response in Bombay.
