Pritam goes rock for music of Metro

MUMBAI: ‘Band Metro’ comprising music director Pritam, singer James and relatively newer performers Soham and Sohail gave an electrifying live performance on Friday evening at the music release of UTV’s forthcoming film Metro. Present at the launch were actors Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja, Kangana Ranaut, director Anurag Basu, producer Ronnie Screwvala and Sony BMG managing director Shridhar Subramaniam.

Band Metro was formed few months ago specially for UTV’s film Life In A Metro. Says Pritam, “Anurag told me that he wanted to a rock band for the film. At first I told him that after the music is ready he can shoot the songs with some actors as rock performers. But later he came to me and said that he wanted a live band to perform and that is how this band was formed.”

The music of the film combines together elements of rock, classical and Indian music. “The music of Metro is a meter to test the success of rock music in Bollywood. The soundtrack is unique in terms of its range and depth,” adds Pritam.

Shetty who was present for the launch of the music regretted the fact that she could not thank Pritam for the music earlier. “Apart from the script, direction and production, Pritam’s music is definitely the USP of Metro. He deserves kudos for amalgamating rock and traditional music so wonderfully,” says Shetty.

Actors Shiney Ahuja and Kangana Ranaut were more than happy to have Pritam by their side once again. “Pritam has proved very lucky for us in Gangster – Ya Ali and Woh Lamhe and we hope the same for Metro as well,” said Ahuja and Ranaut.

The music is available on Sony BMG. The music company is planning to promote Band Metro by organizing various road shows and live performances as well.
