Bollywood content helps Zoom surge in 2007

MUMBAI: Zoom, the glamour and entertainment news channel from the Bennett, Coleman Company Limited stabel, claims to have overtaken competition across six metros among the C&S AB 15–44 audience, following increased Bollywood coverage.

Quoting TAM results, the channel says that this has helped it break into the top 10 viewed channels in the country in the second week of January 2007.

The channel has been distinctly moving towards an entertainment news format and recently launched an evening movie slot to target prime time ratings. The ruse appears to be working.

Zoom started the year with an increase of 63 per cent GRPs in the six metros over the last quarter of 2006. In the Hindi speaking markets (HSM), it has shown an increase of 32 per cent. The growth of over 55 per cent among C&S males in SEC AB 25+, a target group perceived as purchase decision makers, will make it a serious contender across many media plans, the channel claims.
