Soniya Mehra replaces Amrita in Victoria..

MUMBAI: Late Vinod Mehra’s daughter Soniya Mehra has replaced Amrita Arora in Kamal Sadanah’s remake of Victoria No. 203.

Soniya will play the character played by Saira Banu in the original. The film is directed by Ananth Mahadevan and also features Jimmy Shergill (in the role played by Navin Nishchol in the original), Om Puri (in the role essayed by Pran) and Anupam Kher (in the role played by Ashok Kumar).

“We had to replace Amrita Arora with Soniya due to some contract problems. We had not started shooting with Amrita yet. Anupam Kher recommended Soniya, who was screen-tested and found to be good. The next schedule will start from mid February, and we will complete the entire shooting by the end of March. Victoria No. 203 is budgeted at around Rs 25 million (Rs 2.5 crore),” says Sadanah.

Nischol and Saira Bhanu, the pair that acted in the original Victoria No. 203, which was made by Kamal Sadanah’s father – Brij Sadanah in the 1970s, will also be seen in the remake.
