MUMBAI: Seeking a complete ban on the song ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ from upcoming political thriller ‘Shanghai’, an organization called Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court for an interim stay on the June 8 release of the film.

The petitioner has alleged that the song has many insulting and outrageous words which can "hurt many people who are patriotic in nature". The petitioner has also sought help from the central government and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to take steps to ban the sale of audio CDs of the film.

"The song shows that its writer has no respect for India, it depicts India as the land of the homeless, misery and disgust," said the organization in its petition. Hearing is scheduled for June 6.
