Delhi High Court refuses stay on

MUMBAI: Ram Gopal Varma’s movie Nishabd starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jiah Khan and Rewati will be released tomorrow (2 March) despite a petition being filed in the Delhi High Court by film maker Jahar Kanungo.

Kanungo claims that Verma had violated the IPR (intellectual property right) to the movie’s title. Incidentally, he had produced a Bengali documentary film of the same name a decade back and hence claimed that the copyright of the name belongs to him. However, the court refused to issue a stay order on the movie’s release.

The court dismissed the case stating that it was too late in the day for Kanungo to file a complaint against Verma. Nishabd tells the story of a 60 year old man, who falls in love with an 18 year old girl.
