MUMBAI: Star Movies will be premiering the inspirational sports film – Goal! – based on Santiago Munez, an illegal Mexican immigrant living in Los Angeles.
The movie will be aired on 8 June at 9 pm.
Chronicling a young boy’s journey from poverty to international stardom, the movie is directed by CSI creator Danny Cannon and stars Latino actor Kuno Becker.
When 10-year-old Santiago Munez (Becker) crossed the Mexican border into America, he had two things in his possession: his football and a tattered picture of the World Cup. Growing up in Los Angeles, Santiago dreams of becoming an international football star. But his father doesn’t share his vision.
Set against the backdrop of international football, Goal!, features cameos from some of the best-known names in the game, including David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Raul and Newcastle captain Alan Shearer.
