Dishtv buys Michael Jackson concert rights from Sony Music

MUMBAI: After DTH service provider BIG TV acquired the rights to Michael Jackson’s concert rights of Live In Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour from Sony Music, now Dishtv to has bought the rights of the same. Dishtv will be broadcasting the concert for a period of four weeks on its movie on demand service.
Dishtv COO Salil Kapoor said, "Dishtv honors Michael Jackson’s life and legacy by showing programming devoted to the memory of the legendary superstar. Michael Jackson was a performer, an innovator and a genius in his field. The Live In Bucharest concert is specially priced at Rs 25 versus the usual Rs 50 – 75 band. A generation of followers have tapped their feet and sung along to his smash hits. But more importantly, his contributions to the world of music can never be replaced, replicated or forgotten. Michael Jackson has impacted the world of music and pop culture in a way like no one else has."
Live in Bucharest is the first leg of Jackson’s Dangerous World Tour, which took place on 1 October, 1992, at the Bucharest National Stadium. Hailed as one of the biggest and memorable concerts, the concert had a sold-out attendance of 170,000. Later, in 2005, a DVD of the concert was brought out, of which 950,000 copies were sold worldwide.
Dishtv will broadcast some of Jackson’s exclusive footage from the Bucharest Concert, which would also have the We Are The World, a song written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
