MUMBAI: Disney Channel brings Hannah Montana – The Big Pop Star Dream to India starting 17 May. The channel will tour Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad to help tweens across India discover the star within them.
To participate in the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana – The Big Pop Star Dream, audiences have to sing and groove to any Hindi movie song at an audition to be held in their city.
Walt Disney Television International (India) senior vice president and managing director Antoine Villeneuve said, "The Big Pop Star Dream is a natural extension of the channel’s philosophy of being a part of real kids’ lives and inspiring them to achieve their dreams."
VIVA band’s Anushka Manchanda will be the celebrity judge for this competition and will help select one contestant per city after reviewing the four city auditions. Anushka said, "It’s fantastic that Disney Channel fans have so many avenues to discover their talent. I am a Hannah Montana fan as well and I am really excited to be a part of this all-India search for a tween pop star."
Disney Channel will fly the four semi-finalists to Mumbai to give them a complete Hannah Montana makeover and record the Hannah Montana title track in Hindi. The vignettes of these four semi finalists’ performances will then be aired on Disney Channel for audience poll.
The final winner will get to star in the title montage which will play before each episode of the new season of Hannah Montana. The winner will fulfill a dream to meet Hannah Montana in US and also feature on the cover of the Disney Adventures magazine in India.
One lucky fan among the Disney Channel viewers, who participates in selecting the final winner through votes, will win a chance to accompany the contest winner on this trip to meet Hannah Montana. Other prizes to be won include guitars, accessories and Hannah merchandise.
