MUMBAI: Disney Publishing Worldwide (India) has launched Pitchkiaow, a new literary initiative inviting writers to pitch an original idea for a children’s story. The winner will take home 50,000 (INR) and have a chance to get their story published by Disney Publishing.
To enter, writers need to submit a 500-600 word synopsis and 800-1000 words of the 1st chapter in physical printed format to Disney Publishing.
A panel of judges including Ogilvy & Mather executive chairman & national creative director India and South Asia Piyush Pandey and Disney Publishing Rina Mehta will assess the entries and identify the shortlisted twenty entries. Finalists will be invited to attend the culmination event to be held in May, 2011.
“Every author dreams of having their work published. It’s really exciting to be able to offer this opportunity to give writers a head start,” said Roshini Bakshi, VP, Consumer Products, Publishing and Retail. “Disney’s storytelling heritage and our commitment to tell local stories provide the perfect platform to inspire literary talent.”
Storytellers are required to submit their original local storyline along any of the following themes:Grandma’s story retold in today’s time,Escapades of a gang of kids in the historical period of your choice, School stories, Cricket capers, Pirates of the Arabian Sea, Indian Princess Stories.
