Miss Anara to release on 23 February

MUMBAI: Miss Anara, the film based on the Jammu sex scandal that rocked the country a few years ago, will release on 23 February 2007.


The film, made under the banner of K K Yadav Productions, will star the victim, former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta and attempt to tell the truth behind the scandal.
“We have not decided about the number of prints,” says the film’s producer K K Yadav.


Yadav’s son Amit plays a simpleton in the film, who supports Anara in her endeavours. The film has been made on a budget of Rs 25 to 30 million (Rs. 2.5 – 3 crore), says Yadav. “We have even shot the film in Tamil and Telugu languages, as there is a big market down south. We will be releasing the film in three languages – Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. We are in talks with T-Series for the audio rights of the film and also with other distributors for worldwide rights,” he adds.


The film has been directed by Yogesh Bhardwaj and K K Yadav, while the music has been composed by Dilip Tahir and Mani Shankar. The cinematography is by Ashok Chakravarty, choreography by Dilip Mistri and Habiba Rehman and action by Prem Sharma. The film also features Mukesh Tiwari, Yashpal Sharma, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Ehsaan Khan, Smita Jaykar, Gajendra Chauhan, Shehjaad Khan, Avtar Gill and Bharat Kapoor.
