Disney’s Meet The Robinsons set for India release

MUMBAI: Disney Motion Pictures’ Meet The Robinsons is all set for release in India. While the film will be released in Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai on 20 April; in Chandigarh, Kolkata and Hyderabad it will be released on 27 April.

Based on the book A Day with Wilbur Robinson by William Joyce, the film follows the adventures of young Lewis (voiced by Daniel Hansen), a bespectacled boy whose mother left him at an orphanage when he was an infant. Being the science geek and aspiring inventor that he is, he creates a memory scanner with the hope of going back and finding his mother.

The movie will be released in the new Disney Digital 3D. This new format brings to life the CG animation and presents a glimpse into the future of digital entertainment. This new animated adventure grossed $7.1 million on 581 3-D screens to become the largest digital 3-D opening in history, when it released on 30 March internationally.

Director Stephen Anderson said, “Audiences fall in love with the good guys and the bad guys because they all connect. Meet The Robinsons has these same kinds of characters. They’re fun, they’re unpredictable, but they also have an aspect that is very emotional and human. I think that’s what audiences expect from Walt Disney, that you’re going to laugh, you might cry and you’re definitely going to care about these characters. For me, I love these characters like they’re my own family and can’t wait to have audiences meet them.”

The film is being distributed in India by Sony Pictures Releasing of India.
