Dr. D Rama Naidu’s film at Chicago film fest

MUMBAI: After screenings of producer Dr D. Rama Naidu’s Hamari Beti at the Cannes International Film Festival and various other film festivals, the film was recently screened at the 42nd Chicago International Film Festival, 2006.

Hamari Beti was produced under the banner of Suresh Productions and written, cinematographed and directed by A.K. Bir.

“In all, 30 movies from all over the world were showcased at the festival and Hamari Beti was the only Indian film to be shown there. I am very happy and proud because I had targeted the film for festivals,” says Dr Naidu.

Hamari Beti is about the triumph of the spirit of the soul, wherein a real life deaf and dumb girl from Orissa (Shakti Swaroop playing herself) overcomes all obstacles and makes it big as a classical dancer. The film received an overwhelming response and garnered unprecedented praise from critics and audiences alike. The film also features Govind Namdeo and Anuradha Patel in key roles,” adds Naidu.
