E-City Films bags Kaafila distribution rights

MUMBAI: E-City Ventures promoted E-City Films (ECF) has entered into a distribution tie-up with Zee Entertainment Enterprises by acquiring the distribution rights for the Sunny Deol starrer, Kaafila. To be sold exclusively in Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat, Saurashtra, UP and Andhra Pradesh, ECF will be releasing 125 prints of Kaafila, which is scheduled for a release on 10 August release.

ECF vice president Amit Dhanuka says, “E-City Films is committed to providing audiences in the Indian sub-continent with the finest global celluloid experiences through a bouquet of films of every genre, and to also take the best of Indian entertainment to the discerning audiences worldwide. We aim to be a strategic link between independent studio productions and Indian theatre audiences. Kaafila fits in beautifully with our vision, since it depicts the harsh realities of illegal immigration afflicting the Indian sub-continent and Asia as a whole.”

Dhanuka further adds, “Kaafila is an action-packed patriotic movie that revolves around a sensitive issue that has never been explored before in Indian cinema.”

Calling the shots for Kaafila is director-actor Ammtoje Mann of Hawaayein fame. The film has been shot in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and United States of America, besides Mumbai, Ladakh and Manali. It is presented by Mannerism Films and produced by Tony Sandhu.

Written, scripted and directed by Ammtoje Mann, the film dialogues are penned by Varun Gautam, cinematography by Nazir Khan, music by Sukhwinder with lyrics by Babu Singh Mann.

Dhanuka adds, “We aim at nationally distributing around 15-20 movies every year. In the recent past, ECF distributed Alexander (December 2004), One Dollar Curry (February 2005), Million Dollar Baby (March 2005) and Sahara (July 2005). From Bollywood, E-City Films has also distributed Phir Hera Pheri, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Nishabd and Jaan-E-mann.”
