E-City to distribute Shoot ‘Em Up

MUMBAI: E-City Ventures promoted E-City Films has acquired exclusive distribution rights for Hollywood movie Shoot ‘Em Up in India across all territories.

 


E-City Films has entered into a distribution tie-up with New Line Cinema for the distribution rights of the movie. With the movie scheduled for release on 26 October, E-City Films will be releasing Shoot ‘Em Up with 200 prints.


 


E-City Films vice president Amit Dhanuka says, “E-City Films is focused towards bringing audiences in the Indian sub-continent the latest and most popular global theatrical experiences through a variety of films in every genre. Through our latest acquisition of Shoot ‘Em Up, the highly anticipated Hollywood blockbuster, we aim to provide Indian theatre audiences with highly entertaining and star studded Hollywood productions on a more regular basis. With one of the most pulse raising opening action sequences ever in cinema history, this movie is sure to entertain audiences all over India.” 


 


Shoot ‘Em Up is an action-packed movie, directed by Michael Davis who mixes explosive action sequences a la John Woo and Looney Tunes comedy. The movie revolves around Clive Owen (Mr. Smith), a carrot toting sharp shooter, who is unknowingly drawn into a warehouse shootout with a number of heavily armed creeps being led by a snarling Paul Giamatti (Hertz) the antagonist in this thrilling movie.


 


Dhanuka adds, “Like Babel which created quite a buzz, Shoot ‘Em Up, too, is a movie that has a star-studded cast. Besides Clive Owen who has carved an unparalleled niche in the hearts of audiences worldwide, the film is also drawing much anticipated interest for Monica Bellucci, one of the most stunning actresses from Italy, who plays the female lead in the film.”


 


Talking about other initiatives being taken by E-City Films, he informs, “We aim at nationally distributing around 15-20 movies every year.”


 

In the recent past, ECF distributed Alexander (December 2004), One Dollar Curry (February 2005), Million Dollar Baby (March 2005), Sahara (July 2005) and Babel (December 2006). From Bollywood, E-City Films has also distributed films including Phir Hera Pheri, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Nishabd and Jaan-e-man.
