Eik Dasttak to be re-released

MUMBAI: Sea Studios’ Eik Dasttak, which flopped miserably when released by Adlabs all over on 17 March 2007 will be re-released by the film’s producer.

Says Producer Harkrishna A Rai, “It is a pity that the film had to be pulled out in its first week due to poor attendance. The film was released by Adlabs with 25-30 prints including 10 in the Bombay circuit, on a 30 per cent basis. It was aimed at the multiplexes with one or two shows. But the film was poorly publicised. We did not have that kind of budget. To add to its woes, even at the cinema halls and multiplexes, the banners, signboards were not displayed. The film was not released overseas either.”

Rai now plans to recall all these prints and re-distribute the film all over. The re-release date will be announced soon, he says.

Eik Dasttak revolves around income-tax officers and their working system. It has been written and directed by Shekhar and stars Vasundhara Das, Narein, Vineet Kumar, Shreya Narayan, Yateen Karyekar, Murli Sharma, Amit Bahl and Charanjeet Saluja.
