Mumbai: The sequel to the most successful movie made for television released on DVD in India last week. High School Musical- Extended Version has been released by Excel Home Videos in India.
The premiere of the movie on television brought in a total of 17.3 million viewers in the United States, almost 10 million more than its predecessor, making it the highest-rated basic-cable broadcast in US history. The Guardian has revealed that as of February 2008, over 179 million people have seen the film worldwide.
High School Musical 2 won the Choice TV Movie category at the 2007 Teen Choice Awards. It also won a special Teen Choice Award for its record breaking premiere numbers and the So Hot Right Now award at the Nickelodeon Australian Kids’ Choice Awards 2007.
The DVD has a variety of bonus features including an exclusive music scene, a sing along feature where fans can sing the lead vocals with help from optional on-screen lyrics, music videos and backstage Disney.
The plot revolves around the East High Wildcats who are getting ready for their summer vacations. They plan to stick together by enrolling for summer jobs in the same establishment. Troy (Zac Efron), the leader of the wild cats is thrilled when he’s offered a job in a country club, but it’s all part of Sharpay’s (Ashley Tisdale) plot to lure him away from Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens). How will it all turn out? All questions are answered on the night of the club’s Talent Show. The DVD is available at all stores across the country.
