Fame Cinemas adds new property in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Fame Cinemas opened its new single screen property in Kandivali East, a suburb of Mumbai this month.

The property is located in Thakur Village in Kandivali east and has a seating capacity of 415.

Currently, Fame Cinemas operates 13 multiplexes in the country, comprising 44 screens with around 11,600 seats.

Fame Thakur Movie is the company’s seventh property in Mumbai, including Fame Adlabs Versova, Fame Inorbit Malad, Fame Raghuleela Kandivali, Fame Thakur Kandivali, Fame Nakshtra Dadar and Fame Dahisar.

Shringar Cinemas managing director Shravan Shroff said, “Kandavali West as well as East are important markets for us as the disposable incomes of the people have increased by leaps and bounds and prefer to spend extra bucks on getting a fulfilling experience at theatres. Movie viewing is not just about the movie anymore. Even though Thakur Fame Movie is a single screen we have made sure that we give our patrons as wholesome an experience as our multiplex properties in terms of service, facilities and hospitality.”

Countrywide, Shringar Cinemas will be doubling its multiplexes to 22 in the current fiscal with an investment of Rs 60,000-70,000 per seat. Shringar plans to open 50-60 multiplexes with around 300 screens in the next five years across the country.

Following the launch of the Dhaisar Property, Shringar will make its foray into the south with the launch of – Fame Lido, a four-screen, 1,029-seat multiplex; will be launched in mid-September at Bangalore. The second property, Fame Shankarnag Symphony, a leased single-screen theatre, would be operational by the end of the year.
