Mumbai: The distributors at Naaz looked buoyant. Many films are proving box-office bonanzas in 2006. The good opening of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna will keep investors happy. The impressive line-up of films like Lage Raho Munnabhai, Naksha, Don – The Chase, Jaan-E-Mann, Umrao Jaan, Woh Lamhe, Kaafila, Kabul Express, Vivah, Dhoom – 2 and Guru have regained the confidence of distributors. The trade is excited.

Fun Fiesta, the first multiplex opened at Nalasopara (West) with the screening of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. It has 3 screens. The age-old Shalimar cinema in Grant Road (Bombay) has been acquired by Cinemax. A multiplex will be constructed there. It is being learnt that they has alsooffered New Excelsior ( V.T., Bombay), but the management has their own plans of converting the cinema into two screens. Sterling, the other prestigious cinema of South Bombay, is also going the multiplex way.

R.M. Ahuja & Co. is releasing a devotional film Jai Santoshi Maa – Rath Of Faith, Peace & Devotion on Sept. 22 in Bombay Circuit. In terms of revenue, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is following the footsteps of Yash Chopra. He is demanding his own terms for his Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Vidya Balan starrer Lage Raho Munnabhai. Looking at the hike, the film which was to be released by Inox in Kolkata has changed hands due to the dispute regarding the MG amount. Now it will be released by Amitabh Gupta through Rajshri Films.

After a successful bout of The Da Vinci Code and Pirates Of The Caribbean, Sony Pictures will release both – Khooni Khanzar, the Hindi dubbed version as well as the English one House Of Flying Daggers next month. Meanwhile, Sony has introduced the latest projection technology. Called as 4k-d cinema it gives an unexpected big resolution. The first film to be projected on this 50 feet long screen is The Da Vince Code
