MUMBAI: High Point Films, has secured world sales rights excluding US, Canada and the UK to The Wicker Tree – Robin Hardy’s companion piece to his 1973 cult classic, The Wicker Man.
Reuniting Hardy with original producer, Peter Snell, for British Lion Entertainment, along with producer Peter Watson-Wood and executive producer Alastair Gourlay for Tressock Films, the Wicker Tree is set between Texas and a remote Scottish village.
Sir Christopher Lee, also lends his name to the cast, which includes Graham McTavish and Clive Russell. Adapted from Hardy’s own novel, Cowboys for Christ, this time around, another community of pagan enthusiasts lights a welcome fire for two fresh-faced evangelists from the States, played by newcomers, Britannia Nicol and Henry Garrett.
Peter Snell commented, "High Point understood The Wicker Tree immediately and were head and shoulders above all others when retaining a sales agent. We are very fortunate to be working with them."
High Point Media Group managing director Carey Fitzgerald said, "We’re absolutely thrilled to be working with Peter Snell and British Lion on such an exciting film. While staying true to the distinctive spirit of The Wicker Man, this is a film that stands up in its own right and should attract new audiences as well as those familiar with the original classic."
High Point will be presenting the film in Cannes.
