Hungama TV appoints John Abraham as ambassador

MUMBAI: Hungama TV has chosen John Abraham as the Brand Ambassador for their channel for a period of two years with a talent hunt. This talent hunt titled John Aur Kaun? (The line seems to have been inspired by NDTV’s contest for the film Garam Masala – Akshay, John Aur Kaun?) is going to be the first of its kind for kids a boy and a girl.

These lucky kids would be working with John in a movie produced by UTV Motion Pictures and will win an amount of Rs five lakh with a three year UTV contract. Speaking on the occasion John says, “It is a great association and the first of it’s kind in India. I am glad to be associated with them. The brand values of Hungama and its innovative idea appealed to me tremendously.

I am looking forward to a great time interacting with these children. I am glad to be the chosen one for the ‘John Aur Kaun’ hunt which will give talented kids across the country an opportunity to shine and I am happy that I am involved with it”.

Applications will open in the third week of May and Kids should watch Hungama TV to be able to apply. After scanning applications, Hungama TV will short list 1000 candidates in each of the 5 audition cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Hyderabad through June and July and identify the most talented kids between the ages of 7 and 14 years. The selection criteria for the talent hunt would be performance based – acting and dance.

8 kids will be selected per city making up a total of 40 kids and these kids will go through a comprehensive training process in Mumbai. The two winners, out of the final 4 contestants will be selected on the basis of viewer voting through an SMS/IVR exercise. The hunt will also be extensively promoted via an integrated marketing campaign using print, 0utdoor, Television, Radio and the Internet.

Zarina Mehta the CEO of Hungama TV spoke on the occasion. “Indian Kids have tremendous potential and Hungama TV wants to offer them a platform to showcase their talent. Kids have an inclination to learn and succeed. Thus we decided with the unique concept of having a tie-up with John. John has been popular with the kids and they identify with him. He is a role model for them. We are happy to have John Abraham on board as the brand ambassador for the channel,” she concluded.
