MUMBAI: An ecstatic Shah Rukh Khan rendered an apology yesterday at the stadium in Chennai, after his franchise Kolkata Knight Riders took the trophy home.
Surrounded by his wife, daughter and other kids, the Bollywood superstar said, "I want to apologize to the kids for my misbehaviour at MCA. I apologize to all who saw me differently. I shouldn’t have behaved in that manner. But today my team has won, so I guess, all you fans should forgive me. We have won at last."
On 16th May, after his team won an IPL match, the superstar got involved in an ugly spat with MCA officials. The Asst. Commissioner of Police, Iqbal Sheikh confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan was in a drunken state."Shah Rukh was drunk. He was smelling of alcohol", he said. Khan’s defense was that they had ‘manhandled his children, expecially little girls’.
The Mumbai Cricket Association then imposed a five-year ban on the actor, but hinted that they would call it off if he said ‘Sorry’.
A leading newspaper has reported, that in spite of the superstar’s public apology yesterday, The MCA feels that he has not apologised directly to the association. In the wake of the decision to ban Khan by MCA, IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla said that a final decision will be taken by the BCCI.
Reportedly, this apology rendered by the star will be taken into consideration in the final decision.
