Mumbai: After a disaster called Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi, producer Sangeeta Ahir along with Prime Focus is presenting the film Apne. The movie produced by Rahul Sugandh and directed by Anil Gadar Sharma, has said to be budgeted around Rs. 230 million. The film is currently being filmed in Bangkok.
Apne marks Anil Sharma’s return to the emotional genre of family-oriented films, after he made his debut with the melodramatic Shraddhanjali. Apne has Dharmendra and sons, Sunny and Bobby, playing their real life roles in reel life, for the first time on screen. The film was called Chupke Chupke earlier. “Gadar-Ek Prem Katha and Apne were being scripted simultaneously. Neeraj Pathak has written the screenplay for the film which has the action as well as family drama with three Deols in mind,” reveals Sharma.
Sangeeta Ahir tells more on Apne, “It has been mounted on a huge canvas. As the Bangkok schedule ends, the film will be 80 per cent complete. The balance 10-12 days shooting will take place in Australia. The film will be completed by August.”
Apne is a film about boxing, and who better than the Deols who can spar at ease. “The film is about the treatment meted out to Indian boxer on foreign land and its repercussions is what the film is all about,” explains Ahir.
Ahir reveals that she has engaged the services of foreign technicians and boxers as well. A long one year workshop was conducted near Film City in Goregaon; where a boxing arena was erected. The senior Deol and juniors regularly came for the practice. Sangeeta Ahir has even worked out plans for marketing and distribution of Apne.
Like her earlier films, she is planning for tie-ups. Himesh Reshammiya has provided the musical score for the film. T-Series is said to have acquired the music for a whopping Rs. 15 million. She is already being offered Rs. 50 – 60 million per territory. Sunny Deol has offered to acquire the Bombay and Delhi-U.P. rights for the film; but Sangeeta Ahir wishes to release Delhi-U.P. herself. Her next will be written and directed by Anees Bazmee.
Apne co-stars Shilpa Shetty, Katrina Kaif and Kirron Kher.
