Mumbai: The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) is preparing for the biggest Weekend with Indian Cinema’s finest from 6 -8 June at Bangkok. IIFA announced the list of performers and events for the award ceremony later this year. Amongst the bollywood big wigs set to perform are Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Govinda.
For the first time IIFA will have multi-star performances designed to showcase four important films. Headliners Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja will showcase Harry Baweja’s Love Story 2050; while the De Taali team of Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and Ayesha Takia will also entertain. Zayed Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Shriya Saran along with the other members of the cast will perform as part of the Mission Istanbul cast and lastly Acid Factory, a film that has just begun production will share its first look on stage with a performance by Dia Mirza, Fardeen Khan, Dino Morea and Aftab Shivdasani.
The much-awaited Sarkar Raj will see itself premiere on day one of the IIFA Weekend. Speaking about the same, IIFA Brand Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan said, "I am delighted that my forthcoming film, Sarkar Raj, is being premiered at the prestigious IIFA World Premiere 2008, Bangkok and am eagerly looking forward to this splendid event."
The show will be hosted by Karan Johar and the IIFA Fashion Extravaganza will feature some of the most high-profile Indian designers. The design lines will take to the ramp, presented by Indian film stars as showstoppers. Moreover, this year around, IIFA has chosen to honor Nobel Peace Prize laureate and climate change scientist Dr. Rajendra K. Pachauri, who will be awarded the IIFA Global Leadership Award at the FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum, 2008.
The IIFA Weekend in Bangkok is set to showcase the best talent, in the ‘business of business’, at the power-packed FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum attended by heavyweights from Thailand and the Indian business fraternity with the objective of enhancing the India-Thailand partnership.
