MUMBAI: National multiplex chain Inox Leisure reported a net profit of Rs 243.4 million (Rs 24.34 crores) for the year ended 31 March, 2009, which is down 7.78 per cent from Rs 263.9 million (Rs 26.39 crores) in the previous fiscal.
The company’s revenue was up 9.39 per cent to Rs 2.26 billion (Rs 226 crores) compared to Rs 2.06 billon (Rs 206 crores) in the previous year.
Operating profit stood at Rs 347.5 million (Rs 34.75 crores), which was down 13.51 per cent from Rs 401.8 million (Rs 40.18 crores) in the previous year.
Inox launched four new properties in the financial year 08-09; Inox Faridabad, Inox Nagpur, Inox Bangalore and Inox Burdwan taking its tally of total screens in operation from 76 to 91.
The company had 27 properties under operation in FY 08-09.
Inox earned revenue of Rs 2.25 billion (Rs 225 crores) from the multiplex business this fiscal as opposed to Rs 2.05 billion (Rs 205 crores) last fiscal. On the other hand, film distribution brought in revenues of Rs 15.2 million (Rs 1.52 crores) this year as compared to Rs 61.6 million (Rs 6.16 crores) last year.
