MUMBAI: Inox Leisure Ltd. has signed a deal with United Motion Pictures (UMP) to distribute the latter’s entire line up of movies in 2008 for West Bengal and Rajasthan territories.
Recently UMP had organized a trade show to showcase their movie line up to distributors all over India.
UMP has a release slate of at least 16 – 18 movies in 2008.
The deal between Inox and UMP will commence with the distribution of Race starring Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy, which releases on 21 March.
Sources close to the development inform Businessofcinema.com that the distribution for Race has been inked for approximately Rs 30 million (Rs 3 crores) (including prints) for Bengal and Rajasthan. Race will be followed with their other movies thereafter.
All movies have been acquired on a minimum guarantee basis and the distribution costs will be determined from movie to movie.
It may be recalled that earlier last year Inox also signed a deal with Eros International, as per which Inox distributes all Eros movies in West Bengal.
