Irrfan, Konkona compete for Teacher’s Awards

MUMBAI: Actors Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, director Rajkumar Hirani, singer Shaan and music director, script writer and director Vishal Bhardwaj have been nominated in the entertainment category for the seventh Annual Teacher’s Achievement Awards.


 


The winners will be announced on 17 November in Mumbai.


 


On the other hand, in the business category, UTV Software Communications CEO Ronnie Screwvala has been nominated along with ICICI Bank deputy managing director Chanda Kochhar, Kinetic Motor Company managing director Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Apollo Tyres joint managing director and COO Neeraj Kanwar and Britannia Industries managing director Vinita Bali.


 




In the theatre category, actor and director Dinesh Thakur; actor, playwright, director Mahesh Dattani; actress and film producer Nadira Babbar; actor, scriptwriter, lyricist and playwright Piyush Mishra and stage personality Vinod Nagpal have been nominated.


 


Beam Global Spirits and Wine India and Indian Sub Continent CEO and managing director Harish Molchandani said, “It is a matter of privilege for us to recognize and honour talent and achievement in the country. The Teacher’s Achievement Awards has consistently rewarded achievers over the years and motivated others towards excellence.”


 


The panel of judges for the Business Category includes Marico Industries Ltd chairman and managing director Harsh Mariwala, Manas Advisory founder and CEO Ravi Bhoothalingam, and Hinduja Group India  executive vice chairman Subir Raha. The judges’ panel for the communication category includes Barry John, Sabira Merchant and Victor Banerjee. The panel of judges for the entertainment category includes Ramesh Sippy, Shyam Benegal and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan.


 


Teacher’s Achievement Awards is conceptualized as an event to honour and recognise individuals for their achievements in fields of business, communication, entertainment and sports.
