MUMBAI: While J.P Dutta’s Umrao Jaan starring Aishwarya Rai and Abhishekh Bachchan hasn’t done well at the box office in India, the reports from the overseas are certainly looking up.
Adlabs is the worldwide distributor of Umrao Jaan. Adlabs Films COO Sunir Khetarpal informs, “Umrao Jaan is doing better business in the overseas then in India.â€ÂÂ
In UAE, the film did a business of 500,000 dirham. In the UK Umrao Jaan has garnered 135,000 pounds, whereas in the US, the box office collections are $ 300,000, which also includes Canada. “In Canada, the film is doing exceptionally well and has collected 100,000 Canadian dollars,†adds Khetarpal.
“The film is also doing good business in Singapore too,” he says.
Umrao Jaan also stars Shabana Azmi Suniel Shetty and Divya Dutta. The film released worldwide on 3 November, 2006.
