Mumbai: Legendary music director Khayyam has scored a mujhra song for mega serial Bikri Aas Nikhri Preet aired on DD 1 every Sunday at 9.00 p.m. The last time he composed a mujhra was 25 years ago in Umrao Jaan.
Rekha’s performance, Lachu Maharaj’s choreography and Shahryar’s lyrics cast a magical spell on the audience at that time.
Now, trying to match the steps with Rekha is an aspiring starlet Swapnil Kadam under the choreography of Madhav Kishan, brother of great dancer and choreographer Gopi Kishan. The lyrics are penned by Ahmed Wasi. This mujhra will be aired in the 10th episode on 29 June.
Produced by Trinetra Bajpai, nephew of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the serial is directed by Lekh Tandon. This mega serial is based on Sahitya Academy Award winning novel Vyavadhaan (Sacrifice) written by his late mother Shantikumari Bajpai. The screenplay and dialogues are written by his daughter Anshula.
The serial stars Kanika Bajpai with Divya Dwivedi, Avinash Tiwari, Poonam Bharti, Vineet Kumar, Bharat Kapoor, Neha Saraf, Ankush Bali, Prithvi Zutshi, Rajshri Seem and others. The mega serial is produced by Kanika Multiscope.
When asked about why she is trying to imitate Rekha, Swapnil said with a laugh, "If not Rekhaji them whom shall I ……?… She is an iconic figure to all of us. It is natural to get inspired by her; I find no harm in following her foot steps."
Trinetra Bajpai is happy with the TRP of his serial going up every week. "We were allotted 26 episodes for Bikri Aas Nikhri Preet, but looking at the response it seems we will end up in 52 episodes", he said (RIGHT??).
