MUMBAI: Rakesh Roshan produced Kites will release on 21 May, as scheduled. A stay on its release, granted by the Munsif’s Court at Sitamarhi (in Bihar), was vacated by the district court on 13 May.
Earlier, on 13 April, Roshan’s production company – Filmkraft, obtained an order from the district court of Nevada (in the US) restraining Spektrum Entertainment Inc., Bina Shah and Raj Shah from interfering or obstructing, marketing and promotion of Kites either directly or through their agents or attorneys. Spektrum Entertainment was the line producer of Kites in the US.
Following a fallout between Roshan and Shah’s Spektrum Entertainment and after the Nevada court ruled in favor of Roshan, a case was filed by Laxmi Narayan Prasad / Subeam Holdings in the Sitamarhi court India, seeking a stay on the film’s release. Besides Rakesh Roshan’s company and the worldwide distributors of Kites (Adlabs Films), Spectrum Entertainments was also made a defendant in the case.
The Munsif’s court at Sitamarhi stayed the film’s release when no representatives or advocate of Rakesh Roshan and Adlabs were present. However, the district court of Sitamarhi on 13 May vacated the lower court’s stay order once Filmkraft and Adlabs presented the facts to the district court.
Following this development, the movie is scheduled to release worldwide on 21 May.
