MacKay to present Bollywood Awards in NY

MUMBAI: New York State Independence Party chairman Frank MacKay will be one of the presenters at the Bollywood Awards this year. The awards will be held at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on 26 May.


MacKay was just appointed to the Board of Directors of the Bollywood Group and intends to contribute his years of experience as a promoter in the entertainment industry to promoting Bollywood and its culture in the United States.


Kamal Dandona, Chairman of the Bollywood Group, Inc. (the chief organizational body of the Bollywood Awards), said, “It is unique to find one person with experience in the entertainment and music industries, as well as someone who possess political and business acumen. We are proud to have him on our Board.”


MacKay added, “I would like to thank the Bollywood Group for their support and I look forward to being an active participant for many years to come. India is a large, powerful and democratic nation, and people who have emigrated from India have become an important politically independent voting bloc. Cross-cultural programs like the Bollywood Awards help to build bridges of understanding and mutual respect.”


The stars confirmed to perform at the awards are Bipasha Basu, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi, Urmilla Matondkar, Soha Ali Khan, Neha Dhupia, Kangana Ranaut. Mona Singh (of Jassi Jaise Koi Nahi fame), UK’s Raghav, Pakistani actress and singer Shahida Mini, Caribbean singer Ricki Ramdehal and Pakistan’s popular singer – Waris Beg will also be attending.


Some of the other stars confirmed to attend are Danny Glover, Phylicia Rashad of the Bill Cosby show, Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher, Upen Patel, Lage Raho Munnabhai director Raj Kumar Hirani, Dr. Sanjay Gupta of CNN amongst others.
