Madhur Bhandarkar, Neil Nitin Mukesh promote Jail

MUMBAI: Percept Picture Company and Bhandarkar Entertainment is leaving no stone unturned to promote their forthcoming film Jail.

On 26 September,2009, Madhur Bhandarkar & the cast of the film – Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mughda Godse and Arya Babbar addressed the media at a Press Conference held in Ahmedabad on their special visit to the city to promote their film. The team also engaged themselves at playing Dandiya later in the evening and celebrated the spirit of Navratra.

Bhandarkar said, "I am very happy to visit Ahmedabad during auspicious occasion of Navratari. I remember my childhood when the maximum enjoyment we extracted was during Navratri season only. So being in Ahmedabad during Navratri reminds me of those days. We need a lot of blessings as after the super success of Fashion, there is so much more expected from Jail."

Speaking about his kind of cinema, he added "My movies are not explosive, maybe they just hold up a mirror at our society. My movies are not judgmental, I just try and highlight what happens in our society, sometimes there could be a solution and sometimes there may not be one."

Neil said, "Jail is a very important film in my career. I have worked very hard & have taken lot of pain to complete this film. So am just crossing my fingers and now trying to entertain myself whole heartedly. Madhur Sir is one of the finest directors we have in the industry today. He has done it in the past with commercial, as well as critical successes like Chandni Bar, Page 3, Traffic Signal, Corporate & of course Fashion. I hope Jail too touches the pinnacle of success further."

The story of  Jail revolves around the Protagonist Parag Dixit (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and the whole film is from his point of view and tells the stories of several other inmates of the prison. Some of these are under trials, convicts and also the cops who are in charge of maintaining the order in the prison. Jail gives a ringside view of the world that exists inside the walls of the prison spread across our country.

On asking what made Godse take a big leap in this film from a complete glamorous role to getting deglamourized she replied ,"Jail is a very brave film and here what matters the most is the character to look real and not about how glamorous we look. I am playing the love interest of Parag (Neil) and how due to one night our lives change, is what Jail is all about. I have a very strong anticipation that Jail would even surpass the fame and success of Fashion. Jail has all the elements of humour, drama, emotions & action and is very commercial yet brave project, I must add."

Directed by Bhandarkar, Jail is scheduled to release Worldwide on 6 November, 2009.
