MUMBAI: Anuj Saxena’s Maverick Productions has formed a new mobile and digital division in association with mobile content developer, distributor and aggregator DNS Network.
After testing waters with film production and distribution, the company has tied up with DNS Networks to set up a mobile and digital content unit called Maverick Mobile Content Pvt. Ltd.
The focus of this division would be to develop content for mobile phones which comprises music, videos and games.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Maverick Productions CEO Anuj Saxena says, “We have been toying with this idea for a while now. This area is growing by leaps and bounds. While everyone wants to capitalize on films, I want to tap this market. India is a growing space for mobile users and there are very few players right now. Hence our aim is to be the best service providers.”
The new division will also be cutting an album with the ex-Indian Idols and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contestants. “Why are people skeptical about touching new talent? I am sure they have a long way to go,” mulls Saxena. The music album will be managed by Crescendo and distributed by Virgin Records.
Apart from this, a new album titled ‘Deepawali Aayi Re’ featuring five Crescendo artistes will also be released.
Talking about the investments in this new division, Saxena adds, “I still have to work out the finances of this new venture. It will be a few initial crores approximately.”
