Moxie Entertainment forays into Hindi films

MUMBAI: A Kolkata based production company, Moxie Entertainment, has announced its first Hindi production titled Via Darjeeling.

A suspense drama, the film is being directed by Arindam Nandy, the creative head of a boutique ad agency, Response. The film stars Kay Kay Menon, Sonali Kulkarni, Parvin Dabbas, Simone Singh, Rajat Kapoor, Sandhya Mridul and Prroshant Narayanan.

Abhik Mukherjee (who has earlier worked on Bunty Aur Babli, Raincoat, Sunyaa and Chokher Bali) is the director of photography and Arhgyakamal Mitra (who has Raincoat and Choker Bali to his credit) is the editor of Via Darjeeling.

The film is based on an age-old Bengali tradition of ‘adda’, where friends get together in the rains and exchange stories and gossip, over drinks and dinner.

The shooting of the film started on 3 January and will be shot in places near Kolkata, like Kalimpong (a small hill station between Siliguri and Gangtok), Darjeeling and some parts of Kolkata.

Says the film’s producer Joy Ganguly, “Moxie is committed to producing films crafted by a new generation of directors, writers and technicians working in India and producing nationally appealing cinema from Bengal. Via Darjeeling follows a pattern of ‘one story, multiple endings’ and will leave the audience in suspense and thinking about it long after they’ve watched it.”
