MUMBAI: Popcorn Entertainment and Balaji Motion Pictures’ EMI has been postponed to 7 November. The film will no longer see a Diwali release on 29 October.

Sources inform Businessofcinema.com that the film is still in final stages of post production and the sound mixing is not over because of which the release had to be postponed.

Confirming the development, Balaji Motion Pictures CEO Ramesh Sippy says, "Yes, the release of EMI has been postponed from 29 October to 7 November."

Citing the reason for this Sippy says, "Thirty to forty per cent of sound mixing of EMI is still underway in Anand Studios, where work on two films Fashion and Golmaal Returns is already going on. It looked difficult to complete the work and send the film in time for censorship; therefore we decided to postpone the release."

On 7 November, EMI’s release will now clash with Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi, Quantum of Solace, Dasvindanya and Horn OK Pleasssss. On 29 October, the film would have released alongside Golmaal Returns and Fashion. Reasoning on how this would impact the EMI’s business at the box office Sippy says, "We are hoping to get more theatres and more shows on 7 November and hence do better business."

Popcorn Entertainment’s Shabbir Boxwala adds, "The vacation period will be when the movie releases on 7 November, so the movie should do equally well. Besides, a good movie will do well with or without a holiday."

Sahara One Motion Pictures distribution head Sharath Pal refused to comment.
