Open Your Doors for Darwaza Bandh Rakho

Mumbai: JD Chekravarthy, main lead of Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya in 1998 has turned director the second time with Darwaza Bandh Rakho. He had earlier directed a film called Durga.

Darwaza Bandh Rakho is produced by Ram Gopal Varma himself. Talking about the film Chekravarthy said, “I have 35 characters in my film and let me tell you that it one hell of a job to get them together and synchronize their roles.”

Darwaza Bandh Rakho, is a story of four small time crooks who with a plan of making a quick buck, kidnap a rich girl for ransom. They hold some Gujratis hostage until they would receive the money. The film takes a comic turn when these Gujrati family members create a series of situations too complex for the kidnappers to handle thus resulting into a hilarious mix. The film is due for release on 4 August.

Isha Sharvani plays the lead heroine in the film. “I play a bubbly girl in the film who has been kidnapped. But this does not fright her least. She is in fact very glad. In Kisna I danced now in Darwaza Bandh Rakho I make everyone else dance.” She makes others dance but herself refrains from dancing in her films now. She says, “I do not want to be type cast as dancer actress. I want to try different roles.” Will she ever do an item number? “NO!”

Chunky Pandey plays the role of a driver in the film who kidnaps his madam. “In the film I have formed a gang with my other friends. It is called Chhota Dawood, inspired from Chhota Rajan and Dawood.”

Aftab heads the gang Chhota Dawood. He said, “The film was like a circus. It should have actually been named circus.”

Incidentally this is Aftab’s second film with Chunky Pandey. He had earlier worked with him in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Insaniyat in 1994. Well many people do not know this. As a matter of fact Aftab himself had forgotten this, until today when he was reminded by Chunky.
