Phansekar dishes animation film in Marathi

MUMBAI: National Award winning director Ajay Phansekar (Encounter – The Killing, Eka Hoti Wadi), is treading on new grounds and one that no regional filmmaker in India has attempted to before.

Phansekar’s upcoming Marathi film, Ramachandra Puroshattam Joshi or RamPuJo as it is often called, is an animated fantasy with a family drama woven into it. “Half of this 120-minute film comprises animation graphics. The film is a first of its kind in this genre,” he says.

Visual Media is handling the special effects of the film, which is being made on a budget of Rs 15 million (Rs 5 crore). The film is now nearing completion and all that’s left is to transfer the film from software to film format.

Quality Lab will be handling RamPuJo’s post production work. “After the first print is out, I will try my best to record a song for publicity, which will be aired on MTV. The song is not a part of the film but is merely for promotional purposes. I also intend to tie up with various other television channels for the same,”  Phansekar says.

Ramachandra Puroshattam Joshi will be set to release by in Mumbai by November end.
